Discovering the municipality

The island of Tenerife’s landscape has been shaping itself into its current form due to a large amount of volcanic activity. Volcanic phenomena have been particularly outstanding in the municipality of Guía de Isora in recently centuries.

Various parts of the municipality stand out due to their volcanic features, displaying materials and structures making up a unique landscape of outstanding beauty.

Exploring those landscapes provides an incomparable and enriching experience, getting close to the municipality’s geological resources through nature, covering various routes throughout the Teide National Park area, or visiting the trails of Chío’s recreation area, the Chinyero volcano or the malpaís formations located between Chío and Chirche.

The municipality of Guía de Isora boasts various deposits spanning from Isora’s coast to the Teide National Park. Spreading out all over the municipality, the trails were used by the ancient inhabitants, and they allow you to marvel at the various resources the environment has to offer, creating a rich diversity in spots of archaeological interest.

Many of the municipality’s trails coincide with the original ones used by the aboriginal population in order to access the summit, on which it’s possible to make out features such as burial caves, domestic spaces, cup-mark stations and engravings, bestowing the municipality a highly archaeological legacy.
