GOOD ENVIRONMENTAL PRACTICES
On trails
Respect the springs, tunnels and other watercourses. Do not pour soaps, polluting products or residues into them.
Always walk along the path marked; shortcuts break up the trail and increase soil erosion.
Use the help of guides, maps or people with appropriate hiking experience: such as hiking clubs and associations, tourist information offices or accommodation providers.
Get route information on distances, difficulty level and estimated route-completion time, as well as on possible hazards such as steep inclines, risks of falling rocks or snow fields.
Find out where to get provisions and where to find sheltered resting places along the route.
Let your friends or family know which route you're going to do, and where you're going.
Wear boots or shoes suitable for hiking and appropriate for the trail's difficulty.
Wear waterproof outer garments, and a hat or cap to protect you from the sun.
Take enough food and water to last the entire trail.
Risks become greater in heavy rain or strong winds, meaning you should pay attention to weather forecasts.
